Yankuba Jammeh is a friendly and down to earth professional bird watching guide based in the famous Kotu Creek birding hotspot. He has been organizing and leading birding tours since 2008. Yankuba was born and raised in the rural Gambia, where he took keen interest in birding and wildlife at a young age. However, his passion was really ignited while serving as a volunteer at the Abuko Nature Reserve where he quickly honed his skills and knowledge of the forest birds and before long he started taking visitors/birders on a guided tour, showing them the beautiful birds, flora and fauna of the Abuko Nature Reserve.

In 2009, he joined the Gambia bird guide Association and was soon promoted to the rank of assistant secretary General and then to Secretary General, a position he currently held. He has also collaborated and involved in organizing the maiden annual Gambia international Bird festival in October 2016, in the past, He has been assigned by the Gambia Tourism Board to escort visiting wildlife Journalist and Editors such as Wild Travel Magazine, UK, Bird watching Magazine UK and National Geographic Press, Netherlands. He also annually led tour for Gambia Birding Experience, A reputable overseas birdingTour Operator.​
