This Tour is designed to take in all the best birding areas on the coastal south, We will explore a diverse range of habitats ranging from easily accessible Coastal forests, , Mangroves, Coastal lagoons, Reed beds, mudflats to beaches and varied woodlands. The chance is you will see a diverse range of species including water fowls, waders, raptors and passerines.


Itinerary

Day 1.
An early pick up from your hotel or place of accommodation, we will head to brufut woods, where we’ll spend the morning in search of several forest and woodland birds such as Swallow Tailed Bee Eater, Northern Black Flycatcher, Snowy Crowned Robin Chat, Violet Turaco, Fine Spotted Woodpecker, Splendid Sunbird, Little Bee Eater, Yellow Breasted Apalis, African Pied Hornbill, Greater Honey Guide, and the area’s star bird, long Tailed Nightjar.
Atfer lunch at the Tanji Bird Reserve eco lodge, we will scan the waterhole for both African and Red Bellied Paradise Flycatcher, Western Bluebill, Blue Spotted Wood Dove, Black Capped Babbler among others.
Lavender Waxbill and Black Necked Weaver, we’ll explore the lagoons for Terns, gulls, Pelicans and a host of migrant waders, Bar Tailed Godwit, Kentish Plover, white Fronted Plover and many more, at the scrub and wooded area we’ll look for Vieilot’s Barbet, Blue Cheeked Bee Eater, Pied Winged Swallow, Yellow Crowned Gonolek, Yellow Throated Leaf love, Lanner Falcon, Palm Nut Vulture Singing Cisticola and Variable Sunbird and a lot more.

Day 2.
Today, we’ll visit Kartong Wetland, this coastal hotspot is arguably Gambia’s Finest birding area, it boast African Crake, Black Crake, African Pygmy Goose, Purple Swamphen, Osprey, Beaudouin Snake Eagle, African Spoonbill, Mosque Swallow, Allen’s Gallinule, Bronze Tailed Glossy Starling, Red Necked Falcon, Rufous Crowned Roller, Grey Headed Kingfisher, Malachite Kingfisher, Great White Pelican, White Fronted Sand Plover, various species of Terns and Gulls as well as Egrets and Herons. After Lunch at Stala Restaurant, we will end the day birding at Berending Woodland looking for White Fronted Black Chat, Scarlet Chested Sunbird, Senegal Batis, Grey Kestrel, Whistling Cisticola, Village Indigo bird, Grey Headed Bush Shrike and Walberg’s Eagle. ​
