Kaur Wetland
Situated just 30km east of Farafenni, on the north bank of Gambia River, this seasonal wetland is an excellent site for a variety of wild fowls and waders. The freshwater and brackish lakes bordered with extensive beds of typhaswamps, mudflats and rice fields supports a fantastic diversity of wetland birds including a flock of several hundred Collared Printincole, Ruff, Knob Billed Duck, Pink Backed Pelican, African Jacana, Purple Swamphen, Black Crake, White Crowned Lapwing Yellow Crowned Bishop, Kitlitz’s Plover and the site’s star attraction is the exquisitely beautiful Egyptian Plover, which is usually present in small numbers at least from Mid July to February.
