Abuko Nature Reserve

Deserve its reputation as one of Gambia’s raptors hotspot. The area is situated en route to Tendaba Camp; about 90 km from the coast, this extensive rice fields,   croplands and the vast open country hold a good selection of raptors notably the iconic Bateleur eagle, Ruppell’s griffon vulture, Martial eagle, Bedouin snake eagle, Grasshopper Buzzard and White backed vulture. While raptors form the main attraction to these sites, other species such as Yellow throated leaf love, African Jacana, Broad Billed Roller, Bruce’s Green Pigeon, Splendid Glossy Starling, African golden oriole, and Pearl Spotted Owlet may also be spotted in the area.
