Abuko Nature Reserve is one of the remaining forested areas close to the main tourist resort and is an important wildlife reserve. The Lamin stream flows through the centre of the reserve bordering the stream is the largest and most botanically rich example of ever green gallery forest in the country. This Coastal thicket is home to an interesting array of forest species including the Western bluebill, Little Greenbul, Ahanta Francolin, Buff spotted woodpecker, African goshawk, Yellow Breasted Apalis, Common wattle eye, Green and Violet Turaco, Giant Kingfisher, among others.
